Newsletter – January 11, 2022
Join us Sunday mornings for worship in person at 10:00 am, all are welcome! Session requires masks be worn for all indoor church activities (worship, M in M, Sunday School, etc) regardless of vaccination status. Thank you for your cooperation, and for your care for our community, as we continue to deal with this pandemic. For the immediate future we will not have congregational singing indoors. Online worship is here to stay for the many reasons you may join us online.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE A NEW ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SERIES STARTING ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 16 (delayed due to technical difficulties).
Starting weekly, following worship on January 16, there will be a Christian Education series focused on questions and issues of race. You can meet in person in the conference room, or join on Zoom, using the Owl technology that has worked so well for previous group meetings. The class will start with a 15-minute video, followed by our own discussion of the content of the video. Joanne Boyd has agreed to facilitate our discussions; Joanne has years of experience leading workshops and classes on how to identify racial bias, and she has many of her own resources and experiences to draw upon. Several members of Spirit of Life participated in the Anti-Racism Spiritual Pilgrimage created by the Presbytery. A small group of those participants has continued to meet, to keep the discussions going. A new committee is forming, focused on social justice issues, and this educational offering is part of the committee’s mission. The class is open to everyone interested in engaging in difficult conversations about race. If you’d like to join the committee; we meet (on Zoom) the first Thursday of every month. If you would like to be included on the email list for this committee, please contact Denise Lewis. Please watch for more details coming next week.
M&M will resume meeting on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
SAVE THE DATE: The Annual Congregational meeting will be held after worship on January 30. There will be options to attend in person, or online; watch for more details to come.
From Community Service: During the winter months, the donations to the Little Free Food Pantry need to be modified to tolerate the extreme cold temperatures we can see here. Please review the attached list of items for what to consider donating; ideal items are dried and in bags, like dried beans, rice, oatmeal, cereal, etc. And, remember the motto of the Little Free Food Pantry movement: Take what you need, leave what you can.
Spirit of Life is working to be sustainable through recycling. By introducing more recycling collocated at the location of most trash cans, we can significantly reduce the amount of waste being sent to the landfill while showcasing that reducing waste can be easy. Help us to celebrate sustainability while enjoying the event. Clean plastics, tin/metal and paper should go into the recycling bins and everything else should go into the trash. Thank you! Please see Pastor Rob, any Elder or member of the staff with questions.
Volunteers Needed:
…We need one person each Sunday to serve as a Greeter and one person each Sunday to serve as an Usher for Sunday worship. We need two volunteers for each week. Please let Becky Brandt know what dates you are available to help and she will build a calendar. Thank you!
