Tucked behind Spirit of Life Presbyterian Church in Apple Valley MN there is an open yard surrounded by homes is a small wooden arbor, with two built in benches. Take a closer look and that arbor is actually an entryway into something spiritual – a labyrinth. In 1999, the session commissioned the creation of a labyrinth. Initially, it was mowed into the grass and later, one of our boy scouts built the outlining brick for the labyrinth as an Eagle Scout project. Click here for more information on labyrinths.

The labyrinth in Apple Valley MN is used most often in the summer by members of the congregation, but it is open to anyone wishing to make a spiritual walk.

The labyrinth at Spirit of Life Presbyterian Church in Apple Valley MN is featured in the book, Sacred Sites of Minnesota. For more information about the labyrinth in Apple Valley MN, contact the church office.

I didn’t know that we had a labyrinth behind the church. This should be put in the newsletter or in the bulletin soon. I bet new members are not aware of it and old members have forgotten about it. How cool is this? I will go in search of it next week. I need a spiritual walk.

Alice, Yes–our labyrinth is a great addition to our church that is a gift from our partnership with our scouts. This was an Eagle Scout project from a few years ago. This is also a project that is asking us to get our hands dirty with some needed maintenance so that we can all enjoy a spiritual walk. Something for us to consider.
