South of the River Crop Walk is Sunday, October 10
/0 Comments/in News/by Mama BSpirit of Life Presbyterian Church will host the 9th annual South of the River CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 10! Registration starts at 1:30 p.m., and the Walk starts at 2:00 pm. CROP Hunger walks are locally organized events under the sponsorship of Church World Service to raise awareness about global and local hunger. Seventy-five percent of funds raised support CWS in their global and US based efforts for hunger relief, disaster assistance, and development. Twenty-five percent of the funds we raise will support Second Harvest Heartland, a food bank that supplies all of our local food shelves. We are doing good work and you can be a part of it! Here are the ways you can help:
Follow the link below to join the Spirit of Life team, or donate to the team.
Contact the church office at spirit@spiritoflifeav.org if you would like to volunteer to assist on Walk day; we are looking for 2 or 3 people to help with check-in and registration.
Bring non-perishable food items to the Walk, that will be delivered to the Rosemount Family Resource Center food shelf.
Order a home-made, frozen take-and-bake Swedish apple pie! Some of you have purchased these pies in the past and know how good they are! They are $10 each and can be pre-ordered, with or without nuts. Contact the church office to place your order; deadline Sept. 24.
If you prefer to donate to the team, or pay for your pie with a check, please make it out to Spirit of Life, with “CROP Walk” on the memo line.
