Donations needed for South Minneapolis
Rioting and looting in Minneapolis has left many underserved communities and homeless people with nothing. Local shopping, grocery stores, pharmacies, thrift stores, and other basic necessary needs of the community have been erased. The community is asking us to help with donations of clean, laundered clothing. People of all ages are affected, but adult clothes are most needed. If you don’t have clothing to donate, the community continues to ask for basic personal items such as diapers, non-perishable food items and dish soap.
Donations can be dropped off at Spirit of Life Presbyterian Church, 14401 Pilot Knob Road in Apple Valley. Volunteers will receive items on Tuesday, June 9, Thursday, June 11, and Saturday, June 13 from 2 – 7 pm. Thank you for taking action and serving our neighbors!
For the clothing donation drop off, will there a “drive through” option or will someone be available to take donations out of cars?
My mom has some adult clothing but will not have the endurance to bring bags from the car into the building.
Hello, there is a tent set up outside of the church building. If you mother drives up to the tent, a volunteer can help take donations from the car. Thank you!
Hello, thank you for making this act accessible to the suburbs! What South Minneapolis organizations do these donations go to? Will this be an ongoing opportunity?
Hello! Donations have been shared through a number of distribution points, including Pimento, Seward Cafe, PowWow Grounds, Minneapolis College of Art & Design and Baha’i’ Center. We are continuing to take donations this week. We’ll have updated information posted on our website very soon. Thank you!
